starting off strong

With the Spring 2025 semester underway, I’m thrilled to provide an update on my progress. I’m currently taking 22 credits at Virginia Tech’s College of Engineering. My coursework for this semester covers advanced topics in computer architecture, computer systems, data structures, algorithms and algorithm analysis, technical writing, and astrophysics. I’m also receiving credits for my various research projects.

I’ve also accepted a job offer to work at the Virginia Tech College of Engineering Dean’s Office, where I will be working every weekday alongside IT Professionals. I’ll be providing software and hardware support to thousands of engineering students, faculty, and staff. If you’re affiliated with the College of Engineering in anyway and are struggling with your computer, feel free to stop by Torgersen Hall 2080!

Reflecting on last semester

Last semester (Fall 2024), I was on the CoE Dean’s List, even while enrolled in junior-level CS and physics courses. I significantly improved my time management and collaboration skills. I also wrapped up my first research project this semester. I worked with Dr. Bingyu Zhao at The Zhao Lab, where I developed a computer vision model to automatically and precisely measure the growth of plants in an indoor laboratory. Our model achieved 97% accuracy! If you’re interested in our research, take a look at our research poster, which we shared at a College of Engineering poster session.

I’d like to thank a moment to recognize the invaluable skills that Virginia Tech’s College of Engineering has instilled in me. I’m immensely grateful for the skills the CoE has instilled in me since moving to Blacksburg. Approaching next semester, I intend to continue my tenacity and dedication towards my coursework and research.
